Polar Bear Ride

Something to be said about the "exhilaration" of riding down the highway in 20-something degree weather that truly sets the "hard-core" riders apart....... (30+) Members headed east to the Birchwood restaurant in Riverhead last Sunday. Leading the Group was Matt Foster - Safety Officer & Road Captain. Many THANX to Matt. We look forward to the next "frostbite" ride.....

Jan Meeting/ Swap Meet

We had a great monthly meeting - the first of 2009, which is sure to be another great riding year for our Chapter. Road conditions (and freezing temps!) prevented us from riding after the meeting, but many of us took advantage of the great "stuff" available at the Swap Meet!

Sweetheart Ride

16 bikes/17 members participated in a great 45-mile ride this past Sunday. The original destination was supposed to be Otto's on the Nautical Mile, but it was closed! Instead, coffee and snacks were had at the Babylon Bean. If your bike is growing cobwebs in the garage, give it a treat and take it out one of these Sundays. The cold doesn't stop us!

AC Trip

You missed a great time if you didn't join us for the bus trip to Atlantic City this past Saturday! Activities Officer, Joe "Jitsu" outdid himself in planning this great event. We watched a variety of movies on the bus, ate and drank to our hearts' content, and then gambled in the casino. Quite a few of us came out winners. The losers weren't talking ... Make sure you plan to attend this one next year - we really had a blast!

Winthrop Hospital Easter Ride

Saturday's visit to the pediatric ward of Winthrop Hospital was wet but wonderful. Ten brave souls actually rode through the downpour, while 35 to 40 of us brought up the rear in our cars. The kids really enjoyed our visit and we want to thank everyone who contributed gifts to make Easter just a little brighter for these poor little ones who had to spend it in the hospital. And a big thank you to our very own Easter Bunny, Public Relations Officer Dom Mazza. Dom did a great job, as always, of putting this event together for us.

Bikers for Babies Registration/May Meeting

Well, we got to ride half of last weekend anyway, huh? The weather held for us during the Bikers for Babies Pre-Registration at the dealership. It was a great day! But the rain killed our ride after Sunday's membership meeting.

For those of us who were in Lake George for Americade: How 'bout that weather? It was gorgeous! The members I saw were Joe & Eva Cambareri, Steve Ficalora, Paul DiFrancesco, Dom Mazza, Guy Turchiano (who put on a great bbq Friday night!), Chris Vultaggio, Cat Domen, Cisco Mercado, Janice & Pete Leone, Pat Donohue, Peggy Brunette, Paul Chieco, Bob Ney, Craig Ruiz ... and I know there were more I didn't run into, like Grumpy & Nadine Hartmann and Ken & Pat Grant. Sorry if I missed anyone! Head RC Paul D was kind enough to lead some of us on a great ride up there on Thursday morning - we even picked up some strays from another HOG Chapter! And Assistant Director Steve did a fine job of leading us back on Sunday.

June Meeting

What is with this rain??? I'm hearing all kinds of statistics like so far it has rained 85% of the days in June, that this is the 10th rainiest June on record, etc. Bleh - we need some sun. It is summer after all! So our ride after last Sunday's meeting was canceled. But we're being optimistic about our chances for next weekend (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!).

Casino Ride '09

9 Motorcycles and 15 members took off last Saturday morning to make the annual Chapter deposit to the Mohegan Sun Casino. After an uneventful 87 miles up the Merritt Parkway, Head RC Paul D took the group through some great back roads in South Central/Eastern CT. Lunch was had in Chester, CT, followed by a stop at Chapman's Falls in Devils Hopyard State Park with a very special stop at the Salem Ice Cream Store (the richest, smoothest Ice Cream in the world - according to Paul). On Sunday, the weather was not overly promising so the group decided an early trip home would be in order. So after a brief ride from the hotel to New London, the group boarded the Ferry and landed at Orient Point.
